About the Item

19th century inlaid walnut writing table/desk from France. The top is made from two gorgeous walnut boards, surrounded in walnut banding and having a beveled edge. The top follows down to a lovely apron, which is inlaid with ebonized wood on all four sides, for easy placement in any room. At the corners of the piece are hand carved brackets for added design interest, and the table contains a single drawer in the front. The table is supported on magnificent legs. The legs are barely twist with the lower part of the leg being turned in a flat bobbin pattern. The legs are connected by mixed patterns of hand turned stretchers, and the center of the stretcher possesses a FABULOUS hand turned open twist leg. This table is absolutely stunning, and is raised on hand tuned feet.
