About the Item

A charming antique early Victorian leather top writing table / desk. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1830-1850 period. It is very well made and is a lovely, compact size. It sits on beautifully turned legs, the drawers have lovely turned handles. The drawers have fine hand cut dovetailed joints, the top edges are nicely moulded and this has a gorgeous inset leather top that has been hand coloured and gold tooled. We have had this recently re-polished, it is in excellent condition for its age. There are various small marks and indentations beneath the polish, commensurate for age and adding to the lovely patina.
