Nestep by DMNTS Design Dimensions: 20 x 40 x 20 cm Materials: Recycled fibre-glass and expanded plastic boards Unique piece. NESTEP, is based on the reuse of manufacturing scraps from Italian company Gees Recycling. The investigation focused on the reuse of processing scraps of furnishing accessory, made up of recycled fibre-glass and expanded plastic boards, fetched from abandoned boats and campers. NESTEP multi-purpose & user” consists of two identical and complementary modules changing their shape according to the user point of view and combining several functional scenarios. The project aims to be a design approach rather than just an object, highlighting and approaching a possible solution, to the manufacturing scraps issue in the contemporary productive system. Lorenzo Demontis is an architect and designer based in Sardinia, Italy. Since graduating from Sapienza University in Rome, he has been working as freelance designer for various design and architecture studios in Italy and in the Netherlands, as well as carrying on with his own projects with DMNTS. Lorenzo’s aim is to research and develop a design approach where archetype forms are combined with pure functionality and contemporary issues. Establishing new relations between advanced manufacturing and craftsmanship. Focused on a complete sustainability, where manufacturing scraps from wood, marble and plastic industries, regain a purpose through specific design investigations.
