About the Item

Osvaldo Borsani was an influential Italian architect and designer, born in 1911 in Varedo, Italy. He is best known for combining modernist aesthetics with technical innovation, creating furniture that balanced form and function. In the 1950s, Borsani co-founded the furniture company Tecno with his brother Fulgenzio. Under Tecno, he developed iconic pieces such as the P40 adjustable lounge chair and the D70 sofa, both celebrated for their mechanical versatility and elegant design. Borsani often collaborated with engineers and designers, blending art, industry, and technology. His work helped define post-war Italian design and was featured in major exhibitions. A visionary ahead of his time, Borsani believed in adaptable, user-centered furniture. His legacy lives on through Tecno and his enduring influence on contemporary design.
