About the Item

1940’s Original Bentwood Fischel Bentwood Bistro Dining Tables - Square. These tables are in exceptional original condition sourced from a community hall in Alsace. Fischel was founded in 1871 by Czech born David Gabriel Fischel, a successful vegetable oil merchant, using the first hand knowledge of his eldest son who had worked in one of Thonets Czech factories. First production was made in Germany in Niemes near the Danube. Later production moved to France in Alsace and sales offices were opened in most major French cities as Fischel became a major furniture producer. These tables date from the forties featuring the most exceptionally beautiful and complex bentwood bases. The tops are durable and practical laminate with oak edging. Please note each table has a few minor chips in the laminate which have been sensitively repaired at some stage. Beautiful survivors in original condition throughout, practical tables.
