Sculptural Brutalist Dining Table in Charred Solid Oak by Sergio Vulpe
This handcrafted dining table is an original creation by Sergio Vulpe — a Moldovan artist and designer shaped by the raw landscapes and emotional textures of life on the periphery of the former Soviet Union. His challenging childhood left an imprint not only on his memory but on his perception of material and form — a sensitivity to tension, imperfection, and the silent power of living wood.
Crafted from massive solid oak, the tabletop is entirely hand-carved and then lightly charred using a refined burning technique. This is not just a finish — it’s a conversation with fire, which deepens the grain, enhances the texture, and gives each surface its own voice. The aging process continues naturally with only wood, air, water, and time.
The legs are sculpted from large oak blocks, guided not by design software, but by the emotional intuition of the maker. Each curve, angle, and cut emerges from a spontaneous dialogue between hand and material — raw, honest, and unrepeatable.
This is not a product of mass production. Every phase — from sourcing wood to final touch — is done manually in the VulpeConcept studio. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that merges memory, material, and meaning.
