About the Item

A generously scaled Danish dining table in richly grained teak, built with the restrained architectural vocabulary that defines the best of the country's mid-century production. The rectangular top sits on a straight apron and four slim, gently tapered dowel legs, joined with visible mortise-and-tenon construction and pegged with dark hardwood dowels at each corner, a detail that speaks to traditional Danish cabinetmaking even within a thoroughly modern form. The tabletop is the real draw: bookmatched teak veneer unfurls in tall, flame-like figuring, streaked amber to deep chestnut, with the grain rising and arching across each panel like the ribs of a cathedral vault. Two draw-leaves nest beneath the tabletop on maple runners, extending the surface smoothly from a compact 160 cm (63 in) to a full 260 cm (102 1/2 in), comfortably seating eight to ten. The leaves carry a slightly lighter tone than the main body, a common and expected characteristic of vintage veneer with age-related patina rather than a later replacement. The teak retains a warm, even color with that same dramatic figuring carried consistently across the extension leaves. Given its age, the piece shows light wear consistent with honest vintage use, including minor surface scratches and a faint hairline crack at one leg block, noted for full transparency and stable with no impact on structural integrity. No maker's mark or label is present; the table is offered as unattributed Danish Modern. **Dimensions:** Height: 71.8 cm (28 1/4 in) Length (without leaves out): 160 cm (63 in) Length (fully extended, both leaves): 260 cm (102 1/2 in) Width: 100 cm (39 3/8 in)
