About the Item

An Italian wooden barley twist leg table, with decorative forged-iron stretcher, from the early 18th century. This antique occasional table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top, which is raised upon a pair of nicely-carved barley twist, trestle-styled legs, with matching barley twist carved wood stretched supporting them just above their feet. The underside of the table is braced by a beautifully hand-forged ogee arch iron stretcher, reminiscent of a bell shape, and creates visual interest and further embellishment to this piece. The walnut wood has a rich, warm patina; a reflection of its history and age. This early 18th century Italian table with barley twist legs and iron stretcher offers numerous options for use, perhaps as an occasional table, small dining table, or a handsome desk.
