About the Item

Dutch Mid-Century Pastoe inspired rosewood & chrome extendable table. This piece, attributed to have been made by Dutch furniture manufacturer Thereca in the 1st half of the 1960s, .features a lightly refinished rosewood veneer top with a rich, deeply figured grain. Round brushed chrome tubular legs support the structure, connected by a dark-finished apron and a built-in hidden extension leaf adds versatility. Manufacturer Thereca was founded in 1870 and remains in operation to this day. This design by Sven Ivar Dysthe was produced by the company around the 1960s. Dysthe—a rarity among Norwegian designers of his time—studied outside his home country at London's Royal College of Art, after which he joined the design firm of Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen before ultimately beginning his work at Thereca. Top shows some wear consistent with age and use, including some chipping to the wood edges. Chrome legs retain original brushed finish. The chairs are listed separately (LU922439519182) sold*.
