Moth Wooden Dining Table by Studio Orbeat Dimensions: W 200 x D 110 x H 78 cm Materials: wood, steel, cedar, paint, mahogany Glass top shipped separately from base. Clean the wooden base with a dry or damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products. Clean the glass top with a glass cleaner. The MOTH table is a handmade piece of design, created on request for the first Louis Vuitton brand store in Lima, Peru in 2022. In the store it is used as a display but it was created to be polyfunctional: it can be used as a dining table, display table or as a central contemplative object. It is made up of 104 pieces of wood (mahogany or cedar) articulated with a stainless steel structure. In its design it was sought to optimize the material to achieve slenderness without reducing the resistance. This search led to the observation of insects, specifically the moth, whose intimate relationship with wood ended up rounding the concept. Studio Orbeat is a uni-personal product design office founded in 2007 in Lima, Peru by Peruvian architect and musician Luis Ortiz de Zevallos Lainez (Lima, 1977). The studio began as a creative space for the conception of illuminated pieces worked almost handmade. Over the years, he advanced toward the creation of other objects designed for interior spaces such as chairs, tables and other artifacts that make up a solid body of author work. Today, Studio Orbeat is a studio that maintains the same essence of its beginnings, but currently works in collaboration with other designers and decorators, mainly in interior design projects. Studio Orbeat products are mostly disarmable and allow the user to interact with them. They are halfway between design and art, between the artisanal and the industrial. For Studio Orbeat it is so important the solution and care of the design of each element and detail that makes up the piece as the aesthetics and the final result for the client. Our objects are produced in workshops in Lima, Peru in diverse materials such as acrylic, steel, bronze, paper, wood and their derivatives.
