Solid oak or oak veneer top, oak legs and apron (customizable) By Jacques Jarrige From Jacques Jarrige’s Torquemada series, this sculpted dining table combines a generous scale with the artist’s unmistakable organic vocabulary. Designed to seat twelve to fourteen people comfortably, the table features a fluid, organically shaped top—crafted in stained solid oak or oak veneer—resting on a network of branch-like legs and an apron in oak. These supports, with their irregular angles and sinuous contours, evoke natural growth, transforming a functional object into a poetic gesture in space. The table’s sculptural form is the result of Jarrige’s hands-on process, where each curve, join, and transition is shaped intuitively, guided by the dialogue between material and maker. The top’s softened perimeter and the rhythmic interplay of the base create a sense of movement, allowing the piece to remain visually light despite its size. This design can be customized, including a version with legs and apron in patinated bronze, as well as alternative wood finishes to suit specific interiors. A similar Torquemada dining table was prominently featured in World of Interiors, May 2011, in “Shades of Gray: the Paris Apartment of Eileen Gray,” underscoring the timelessness and architectural presence of Jarrige’s work.
