About the Item

Small antique walnut drop-leaf occasional table in the William and Mary style, England, 1920s. Lovely, versatile table with a rounded rectangular tabletop having a sculpted ogee edge supported by a turned baluster form leg base. The base features unique spring-loaded metal leaf braces which automatically maneuver the legs on each side to lock the open position in place and smoothly transition the leaves back down. It presents an attractive slender profile and the leaves fold down to a space saving 8.75" wide tabletop surface with each leaf being 11.38" wide. Expertly crafted of richly grained walnut, this table displays all the hallmarks of a highly skilled artisan's hand. A wonderful table offering many possibilities. Not only is it an adaptive side table, but also a good height and size for entertaining to enjoy casual hors d'oeuvres, beverage or dessert. This is a beautiful, dynamic and highly useful piece to become an essential you will absolutely adore. Underside is stamped with patent (for spring mechanism) and brass importer tag.
