About the Item

Late 18th Century combination rosewood games and work table, attributed to Thomas Shearer. Circa 1780. The nearly square hinged top inset with an original green leather writing surface on a rachet enabling an adjustable tilted reading surface. Flanked by outset flaps each fitted with a  pen and ink drawer, the top slide opening to reveal a leather lined tric trac or backgammon. Well above, a further slide supporting a damask covered wool bag, on a turned stem, circular platform and four down swept supports with claw toe castors.
