About the Item

Gaetano table designed by Gae Aulenti for Zanotta 1973. Lacquered aluminum frame, decorated glass top. Eccellenti condition. Gae Aulenti trained in Milan in the group of young people linked to Ernesto Rogers; with him she collaborated on the editorial staff of Casabella magazine from 1955 to 1965, taking care of its graphics and layout. He graduated in architecture in 1959 and participated in the 1950s/60s in the "Neo-Liberty" movement, whose components of originality are found in several of his projects; from '60 to '62 he taught with Samonà in the Faculty of Architecture in Venice and from '64 to '67 with Ernesto Rogers in the Faculty of Architecture in Milan. He gained international notoriety by designing interior architecture, fittings and exhibitions for major Italian industries, residential and educational buildings, as well as designing furniture elements and lighting systems. In 1972 he participated in the exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" at the M.o.M.A. in New York . Gae Aulenti combines design activity with critical activity, carried out in the Industrial Design Association, of which she was vice-president. From 1995 to 1996 he served as president of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He has been collaborating with Zanotta since 1963. For these and other historic Italian design furniture follow our Second Youth gallery, we offer custom research and restoration services.
