About the Item

Marcel Breuer Nesting Tables, c1961 Moulded lacquered beech veneer Largest Table Width - 61 cm - 24.01 inches Depth - 46 cm - 18.11 inches Height - 37 cm - 14.56 inches Medium Table Width - 61 cm - 24.01 inches Depth - 42.5 cm - 16.73 inches Height - 35 cm - 13.77 inches Smallest Table Width - 61 cm - 24.01 inches Depth - 39 cm - 15.35 inches Height - 33.5 cm - 13.18 inches Produced by the Isokon Furniture Company c1961 A rare and highly collectible post-war nest of tables designed by Marcel Breuer for Isokon, produced in the United Kingdom circa 1961. This elegant set exemplifies Breuer’s refined modernist language—clarity of line, functional intelligence, and architectural restraint. The stacking form is both practical and sculptural, each table sliding seamlessly beneath the next to create a compact yet visually dynamic composition. When separated, the trio functions independently; when nested, they form a single geometric statement. Finished in the correct off-white tone associated with 1960s Isokon production, the paint has mellowed beautifully over time and presents as a soft, nuanced white rather than a bright contemporary shade. The surface shows areas of age-appropriate paint flaking, consistent with honest vintage wear. Importantly, there is no evidence of repainting, preserving the set’s originality and authenticity. The tables have been lightly cleaned and carefully waxed to enhance their presentation while respecting their patina. Overall, the condition is excellent for a piece of this age, retaining strong structural integrity and a wonderfully balanced aged surface. As with all vintage works, minor signs of use are present and form part of the piece’s character. Any significant flaws are always disclosed; in our opinion, this is an exceptional example. We currently also hold a pre-war set in our collection, please see our other listings for further details. Viewings are welcomed at our West London showroom. High-resolution images and detailed video can be provided upon request. We offer local, national, and international delivery. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to arrange a private viewing.
