1930s Czechoslovak Art Deco Round Birch Pedestal Table with Storage. A striking and rare Art Deco pedestal table from 1930s Czechoslovakia, featuring a strong architectural presence and refined detailing. Crafted from beautifully grained birch veneer, the table is defined by its round top, cylindrical base, and integrated open and closed storage — all hallmarks of interwar functionalism fused with the elegance of Deco styling. The circular tabletop (78 cm diameter) floats above an open segmented apron, divided into four cubby-like compartments ideal for books or small objects. This clever design not only adds visual interest but also emphasizes the balance between beauty and practicality typical of the period. Below, the central column conceals a hidden compartment with a hinged door, adding further utility without compromising the table’s clean lines. The warm birch finish brings out subtle figuration in the wood, enhanced by a soft satin sheen. The stepped base lends stability and a subtle architectural flair, echoing the vertical emphasis of early 20th-century modernist design.
