About the Item

Bring colorful Mediterranean elegance to a powder room, entryway, or garden room with this richly decorated Italian ceramic pedestal crafted circa 1920. The cylindrical faience column is entirely hand painted with scrolling acanthus foliage, floral motifs, and classical urn decorations in vibrant shades of cobalt blue, soft green, ochre, lavender, and burnt orange over a creamy white glazed ground. Decorative border bands at the top and base add further architectural character and refinement. The antique pedestal features a hollow interior and a flat top surface with a central opening, originally intended to support a jardinière, sculpture, or decorative vessel. The richly ornamented surface and lively palette reflect the enduring influence of Renaissance and Baroque Italian decorative arts. The piece is in good condition commensurate with age and use, with visible age wear and restorations to the lower section and base as shown in the detail photographs, including stable hairline cracks and minor glaze losses consistent with antique faience. Despite the imperfections, the pedestal presents beautifully and remains a highly decorative accent piece. Dimensions: 13.5" Diameter x 25.75"H
