About the Item

Table. Wood, iron. Guadalajara area, Spain, 17th century. It has faults. A walnut wood table, carved in its natural color, with a one-piece, straight top that projects at the sides and is secured with two wooden supports (visible from the front and back). It features a drawer with a wooden knob and lock, decorated with two carved diamonds on the front, reminiscent of paneling. The legs, joined in pairs at their lower ends (cubes) with a turned "disc" design, a technique known as "lentil turning" due to its shape. This table belongs to one of the most common typologies in the Castilian school of all antique Spanish furniture, which is why it is relatively common to find similar examples in important private collections and prominent institutions. Compare, for example, with the so-called "Inquisition Desk" from around 1600, which is in the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid, or with several 17th-century sideboards in the Cervantes Birthplace Museum (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid) and the Lope de Vega House Museum (Madrid). · Size: 85x61,5x69,5 cm International Buyers – Please Note: for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses (if you choose the seller sends it to you), but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.
