About the Item

An elegant and highly decorative Venetian dressing table by Fratelli Testolini, dating from the 1930s, featuring an imposing, sculpted mirror and a refined combination of black lacquer and gilded decoration. The lower cabinet has been restored and finished in a deep, glossy black lacquer, creating a sophisticated contrast with the richly gilded moldings, handles, legs, and ornamental details. The large vertical mirror is framed by an elaborately carved and gilded surround, featuring scrollwork at the base and a delicately openwork ornamental crest at the top. The composition is particularly well-balanced: the dark-lacquered cabinet gives the piece a strong architectural presence, while the gold-leaf effect adds luminosity and highlights the sinuous Venetian lines. The contoured front, cabriole-style legs, and decorative mirror frame reflect the taste for elegant revival-style furniture produced in Venice during the first half of the 20th century. Professionally restored, lacquered, and gilded, the piece has been carefully restored to a highly decorative condition while preserving its period character. Originally designed as a dressing table or vanity, it can also work beautifully in a contemporary interior as a dramatic dressing room piece, bedroom console, or statement piece for an entryway, boutique, luxury hotel suite, or sophisticated retail setting. The dressing table was recovered from a private family home in Chioggia, Venice, and has been part of the A&MYART Collection since 2015. Its large mirror, unusual black-and-gold finish, and unmistakably Venetian decorative style make it a particularly distinctive piece of furniture suitable for both classical and contemporary interiors.
