About the Item

An exceptional Italian Late Umbertino dressing cabinet crafted in solid walnut and richly figured walnut burl, retaining its original Cucchi & Sola Ammobigliamenti Torino maker's label. Produced in Turin during the final quarter of the nineteenth century (circa 1875–1895), this elegant cabinet exemplifies the refined cabinetmaking traditions of Piedmont, distinguished by outstanding craftsmanship, balanced architectural proportions and carefully selected walnut burl veneers. The cabinet is surmounted by its original Carrara marble top, featuring softly rounded corners and beautifully veined natural stone. Rising above is the original architectural mirror, framed by finely molded walnut profiles and crowned by a richly shaped pediment with turned finials, creating a harmonious vertical composition typical of high-quality Italian furniture from the Late Umbertino period. Integrated into the mirror structure are two small side drawers, originally intended for jewelry, grooming accessories and personal objects. The lower cabinet reveals an ingenious internal organization. Beneath the marble is a full-width drawer, while the two paneled doors discreetly conceal three large internal drawers, providing an elegant concealed storage system rarely encountered in comparable Italian dressing cabinets of the period. The cabinet is veneered throughout with beautifully matched walnut burl framed by solid walnut moldings, while turned corner columns, molded base and refined proportions demonstrate the exceptional quality associated with the Turin workshop of Cucchi & Sola. The survival of the original manufacturer's label confirms the authenticity of the piece and documents its prestigious origin. The cabinet originates from the Lazara Aristocratic Family of Padua and has belonged to A&MYART Collections since 1980. Elegant, functional and architecturally balanced, this dressing cabinet represents an excellent example of high-grade Italian decorative furniture intended for distinguished private residences during the late nineteenth century.
