About the Item

Portrait of the Duc D'Aumale transatlantic, made with a mixed technique of wash drawing and pastel, signed by A. Jeancolas November 1914. Coeval frame. Very good condition. Measures: cm 104 x 74 - inches 41.5 x 29.5. The Duc d'Aumale was part of the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique. In service since 1913 on the route that led from Marseille to North Africa, in 1916 it was used for the transportation of troops and it was operational in the Mediterranean until 1936, when it moved to the Antilles area; during the Second World War it worked on the route Antilles-New York, and it was hired between 1943 and 1945 by the War Shipping Administration; it was sold and demolished in 1950 in La Spezia.
