This listing is for a beautiful set of 12 Chinese Export Gouache (watercolor) Paintings on Rice / Pith Papers. The paintings depict the traditional Chinese living culture of a man in old China from his birth to senior age. It's almost the same for every family following these steps. 1. Birth: The newborn baby in the family. The father is holding the baby with the family surrounding. 2. Babyhood: The mother is breeding the baby and some servants around for caring. 3. Growing Baby: The mother is taking shower for the baby. The grandmom is giving the order to the family. 4. Childhood: The family took the man to the teacher's place to prepare for his education. The family will give the tuition and presents to the teacher. 5. Education Period: This is the period for the man to receive an education from school. 6. Marriage: It's time to get married around the age 0f 20. The man came to the bride to bring her home. The bride is saying goodbye to her parents. 7. Banquet in Marriage: The man took the bride home and celebrates the important moment. 8. Scholarly Honor: The man completed his education and passed the official exam and was honored to be granted as an official. 9. Worship Ancestors: The man went back home with honor and worship his ancestors for giving him the blessing. 10. On the Way of Inauguration: The man was sent to a place to be a formal official and will rule the place. 11. Government Official: The man is the government official at the designated place. Now, he is ruling the place and owns a big power. 12. Senior Age with Families: Time goes by and the man is reaching his senior age. His next generation followed his past and seemed to have a similar life as the man. All the paintings are framed in "Solid Ebony" frames with glass. There are some typically scattered splits of aged colors in the paper which is common in these old pith paintings, but there are all good and displayed wonderfully.
