About the Item

A stunning and dynamic expressionist painting. Created mid century circa 1970’s. Primarily black and white with hints of color, mostly fuschia, blue and yellow. Three figures are present and semi abstracted in the frame. One is a male figure hiding in the shadows. Two female figures, one profiled and possibly pregnant and partially nude. Another figure stands to the right with a back facing the viewer with a foreshortened hand extended out to the right. The rest of the background is a greyish/light silver flat color. The hair of the figures is energetic and implies a wily and frenetic energy. Either way there is affecting implied intimacy and ambiguity in the painting. This painting has a unique dynamism and includes touches of expressionist painting and pop art. Likely an acrylic painting. A signature appears to be hidden among the leg of the middle figure that looks like “a. alon 72.” The artist's exact identity is unknown. In good condition. Some gentle wear consistent with age and use. Small section of the frame is missing on the upper right corner. This fascinating large painting is an intriguing piece that viewers can fill in their own narrative to start an engaging conversation over in any space. Original expressionist painting by Bernardo Damiano (also known as Bernard Damiano). He was an Italian expressionist painter and sculptor born on January 10, 1926 in Coni (Piemonte), Italy and died in Nice, France on June 24, 2000. His classical art formation was at the Academia Albertina in Turino, Italy. His works are numerous and well-known. It is precisely during the 1970s that Bernard Damiano's painting is said to have moved away from a relationship with Jean Dubuffet, the Art brut or the Cobra movement, in "a nervous touch and a triturated paste" to draw his style from the rest of Expressionism. This proposal is however stated with reserve: like the Spanish Eduardo Pisano...
