About the Item

Decorate a wall with this charming pair of French antique chromolithographs, created circa 1890 and presented as true pendants. Each composition depicts a lively interior scene of children at play and study, capturing warm, narrative moments with a sense of innocence and gentle humor. One scene shows a young boy focused on his lesson beside his attentive sister, while the companion piece introduces a playful kitten, adding movement and charm to the pairing. Together, they form a balanced and engaging decorative ensemble. Both works are signed “Erpikum” in the lower corner, the pseudonym of Léon Vuilleminot (1835–1917), a listed French artist known for his romantic and genre-driven imagery. His compositions often highlight intimate domestic scenes with soft modeling and a warm, approachable palette, qualities that translated beautifully into chromolithographic production during the late 19th century. Set in carved giltwood frames from a later addition, the antique prints are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with rich colors and light wear consistent with time.
