About the Item

This exceptional Russian Orthodox festal icon presents the principal feasts of the liturgical year arranged around the central depiction of the Resurrection of Christ (Descent into Hades), the spiritual and visual heart of the composition. Executed in egg tempera on a wooden panel with a luminous gold ground, the icon is enriched by finely painted blue floral borders and the Four Evangelists seated in the corners, creating a beautifully balanced and richly ornamented composition. Each narrative scene is rendered with remarkable precision, demonstrating the refined craftsmanship and sophisticated iconographic tradition of Russian workshops.
