About the Item

Set of 6 paintings attributed to the Cusco School, 18th–19th centuries Series of five small-format oil paintings on canvas, attributed to the Cusco School, 18th–19th centuries. They depict Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Barbara, an arquebusier, the Assumption, and the Virgin of the Rosary, with the characteristic iconography of Andean viceregal art. They are notable for their chromatic intensity, floral ornamentation, and detailed vestments, as well as for the expressive power of the figures. The frames are later, probably from the 19th century, which has contributed to the preservation and appreciation of the pieces. This set is extremely rare and has devotional value, especially attractive to collectors of Spanish American colonial painting. 60cm x 40cm biggest
