Incredibly rare original East German film poster for High Noon, created for the 1965 DDR release of Fred Zinnemann's classic western. Designed by Fred Westphal, this striking poster takes a wonderfully graphic approach to the film, setting a lone gunman at the centre of an empty frontier town. The warm orange background, black illustrated buildings and bold red and blue typography give the design a distinctive mid-century look, far removed from the more familiar Hollywood publicity artwork.
Originally released in 1952, High Noon is one of the defining westerns of American cinema. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, the film stars Gary Cooper as Marshal Will Kane, who must face a gang of killers alone after the townspeople refuse to help him. Grace Kelly co-stars in one of her early major roles.
