Rare early original vintage poster for Shredded Wheat by the notable British illustrator, Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964). "Shredded Wheat 100% food, the happy way to health!" Great image of a girl with bows in her plaited hair playing with her dolls, puppets, teddy bear and other toys, serving a bowl of cereal from a box of Shredded Wheat on the table, with the caption "Same as Mum, Dad & Me!" and an adapted children's nursery rhyme - There was once an old lady who lived in a shoe ... This modern young woman won't live in a shoe / And although she has kiddies she knows what to do / Shredded Wheat for your breakfast / My darlings! Cries she / And you will grow strong / Same and Mum, Dad and Me! - with illustrations of a lady in a shoe and children around the outside of the circle in the background, with the price of 8D. Shredded Wheat is a popular brand of whole wheat breakfast cereal invented in America by Henry Perky in 1890. Fair condition, restored tears and loss, backed on linen.
