About the Item

A fine and rare Russian Avant Garde Soviet Propaganda poster by Miaziakin from the highly influential Economicheskaya Zhizn, Economic Life- the official organ of Supreme Economic Council and the Ministries of Finance, Commerce, Trade and Food. Calendar year 1923, March and April Strong graphics, stylish design promoting economic productivity urgently needed by the Soviet government in the post-war years. This poster depicts the cycle of production: miners at work connected by a tunnel which leads to the factory where goods are produced, adjacent to a sleek line of airplanes and barges en route to shipping the finished products. Unusual scallop sea shell with seaweed is depicted at bottom center left, perhaps symbolic of growth and reward. Striking color scheme of teal green, red, black and deep sand. Professional Technical School of Polygraphic Publishing, Moscow, Sadovaya Street, no. 26 A poster by Miaziakin from the same period is in the permanent collection of Tver State United Museum, Russia.
