About the Item

Exceptionally rare original Japanese poster for Akira Kurosawa's classic film The Seven Samurai. This poster was created to be used in provincial cities in Japan and not in the main cities. for The Seven Samurai 1954. Akira Kurosawa was one of the most celebrated and influential film directors of the 20th century. He is probably best known for invigorating the Japanese tradition of chambara (sword fight) films, highly energetic samurai films structured around sprawling and intensely violent battles. The Seven Samurai is Kurosawa's most famous film, and has inspired western filmmakers for generations. The blank area at the bottom of the poster was used by the cinemas to insert the film's screening information. This piece is conservation line backed and it would reshipped rolled and sent by Federal Express.
