18th century Philip James de Loutherbourg Portrait English school miniature etching on paper, of oval shape, set in a black and gold decoration frame. In good condition, original water-colour, French origin, dating back to late 18th century. Philip James de Loutherbourg was a French-born British painter who became known for his large naval works, his elaborate set designs for London theatres, and his invention of a mechanical theatre called the Eidophusikon. This artwork It comes from an Italian private collection. On the back of the item, the artwork description. with attribution to an Engish school artist PAGE and Leblanc engraver, see listed picture and bibliography, page 81 of VIII Benezit Dictionnaire des peintres and sculpteurs dessinateurs at graveurs.
