Allegorical Engraving of Égalité from the French Revolutionary Era This neoclassical engraving powerfully represents Égalité (Equality), one of the central ideals of the French Revolution. The composition presents a seated, serene, and monumental female figure personifying Equality, flanked by two busts styled after ancient deities or symbolic figures, wearing mural crowns, commonly signifying cities or states.
