Peter Umlauf (Czech, b. 1940) – "Das Fenster" (The Window), 1978 A striking signed and numbered colour etching by Czech-born artist Peter Umlauf, titled Das Fenster ("The Window"). This evocative architectural composition depicts the fragmentary façade of a ruined building, its rhythm of arched openings and darkened windows set against a luminous blue sky. The image balances precise draughtsmanship with a dreamlike atmosphere, creating a subtle dialogue between architecture, memory and decay. Executed in Umlauf's distinctive style, the work demonstrates his fascination with architectural forms and spatial illusion.
