Italian Renaissance Tile Designs Print from Ornamentenschatz, 19th Century This beautifully printed 19th-century chromolithograph presents a dazzling array of Italian Renaissance tile designs, carefully reproduced for the influential German decorative arts portfolio *Ornamentenschatz* (The Treasury of Ornament). Published in Stuttgart by Jul. Hoffmann and designed by H. Dolmetsch, this plate (numbered 46) is a superb example of how Renaissance motifs were documented and revived in the 19th century. The composition showcases twenty separate faience tile patterns, richly colored in earthy terracotta reds, deep sea greens, Mediterranean blues, and soft creams. Each tile design exhibits the classic Renaissance interest in symmetry, mathematical proportion, and decorative rhythm. Geometric interlace, floral arabesques, star patterns, and stylized foliage reflect influences from Italian Majolica traditions and earlier Islamic ceramic work that inspired European artisans.
