About the Item

A beautiful original sepia print after the celebrated Scottish wildlife artist Archibald Thorburn (1860–1935), depicting an elegant study of teal and pintail ducks with the exceptional anatomical accuracy and naturalism for which the artist is renowned. Thorburn's masterful observation of Britain's birdlife established him as one of the foremost wildlife illustrators of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, and his works remain highly sought after by collectors today. This authentic early print is signed in the plate and was published in 1906 by A. Baird-Carter, 70 Jermyn Street, London, one of the principal publishers of Thorburn's sporting and ornithological works. The rich sepia tones beautifully enhance the subtle modelling and detail of the birds, making this both an attractive decorative piece and an important example of early 20th-century British wildlife art. The print is professionally presented in an elegant frame and is ready to hang, making it ideal for a country house, library, study or sporting collection.
