A strikingly brutal piece that raises more questions than answers. It was painted during the early 1940s by the German relatively unknown artist Franz Kofron. The fragment has been cut out of a larger subject/motif. Either due to censor or the obvious blasphemy of the subject mattter. A simple act of vandalism without any motiv does not make any sense. The technique used is referred to as Grisaille where a variety of shades/nuances within one color, typically gray, is used to create dept, mystic and atmosphere. The subject matter is a female with powerfull physic and rather masculine facial features/traits carrying a decapitated mans head attached to a stick by his long hair.
