About the Item

Pair 18th Century Rococo Period Painted Wall Sconces are remarkable works, celebrating the asymmetrical naturalism of the movement with stylized shell, acanthus foliage and wildflowers providing the primary subject matter of the sculpture. Carved from solid oak to last for centuries, each is fitted with rings for hanging. Look closely, and you'll see two dragons at the very bottom guarding the work! Painted a gray color that has achieved a lovely patina over the centuries, each was designed to display a particular keepsake or heirloom, and being carved in mirror images of each other, make a great pair to add a special visual touch to any room.
