About the Item

In this listing you will find an antique Mediterranean wall-mounted earthenware vessel executed in glazed ceramic with hand-painted cobalt blue foliate decoration. Likely originating from Southern Europe or the Southern Mediterranean region during the 19th century, the piece beautifully combines provincial craftsmanship with sculptural architectural presence. The vessel features a flattened back designed for wall mounting, richly textured white glaze with extensive craquelure, and scrolling floral ornament rendered in deep cobalt tones. The decorative vocabulary recalls traditional maiolica and Hispano-Moresque influences, interpreted through a more rustic regional workshop aesthetic. Sculptural shell-form side handles suspend forged iron rings, adding both visual contrast and historical character. Partially unglazed at the lower section, exposing the raw terracotta body, the object possesses a remarkable material honesty and weathered patina developed naturally over time. Irregularities from firing, glaze wear, oxidation to the iron elements, and accumulated age marks all contribute to its authentic antique presence. An exceptional decorative object equally suited for wabi-sabi, Mediterranean, Belgian minimalist, or old-world interiors. Works beautifully as a standalone wall sculpture or as part of a curated collection of architectural fragments and antique ceramics. Presented in original antique condition with age-related wear, glaze losses, craquelure, and oxidation consistent with age and use. Not suitable to hold water as it leaks. When purchased the vase will be carefully wrapped up and packed in a way to avoid any damages in transport. As soon as shipped you will receive the tracking number for your package.
