About the Item

This rare and impressive large wall panel was created by Italian artist Francesco Pasinato (1935–2003) in the 1970s. Crafted from solid pine, it showcases a deeply structured relief with a dynamic interplay of organic shapes, precise carvings, and striking cutouts. Adding a bold contrast, the zinc elements incorporated into the design highlight Pasinato’s experimental approach and possibly indicate a new creative direction. This combination of materials was pioneered by Gruppo NP2 leaders Nerone & Patuzzi, from whom the panel appears to draw inspiration. A unique and labor-intensive technique was used to achieve the panel’s depth and rich texture. The wood was partially treated with an open flame, bringing out its natural grain and accentuating its raw beauty. It was then finished with multiple layers of colored wax, creating a deep and multi-dimensional surface with rich tonal variations. The result is an eye-catching composition where the contrast between darkened and untreated wood creates a mesmerizing visual effect. The exceptional color differences in this piece add an extra layer of depth, making it a truly unique work of art. Francesco Pasinato was born in Padua, Italy, and later moved to Germany, where he gained recognition for his innovative sculptures, furniture, wall panels, paintings, and graphics.
