About the Item

A monumental handcrafted Brutalist wall sculpture constructed of hundreds of individually brazed steel nails and rods with richly textured gilded brass accents. Radiating from an open sculptural center, the layered steel elements create a dramatic sunburst composition that shifts beautifully with changing light and viewing angles. The organic brass brazing contrasts with the dark patinated steel, giving the piece exceptional depth, texture, and movement. Reminiscent of the expressive studio metalwork of the 1960s and 1970s, this striking sculpture bridges Brutalism and Mid-Century Modern design. Its impressive scale and dimensional construction allow it to function equally well as wall art or as a commanding architectural focal point in a residential or commercial interior. The craftsmanship is exceptional, with each steel nail and rod individually positioned and permanently joined using brass brazing, resulting in a highly sculptural composition with remarkable visual complexity. The substantial three-dimensional profile casts dramatic shadows, making the piece appear to change throughout the day as the light moves across its surface. Photographed with a Hans J.
