About the Item

This exceptional wide sterling silver cuff by Navajo silversmith Ray Bennett features a large teardrop-shaped Royston turquoise cabochon as its commanding centerpiece. The stone is set within a finely detailed silver bezel, framed by a twisted sterling silver rope border that enhances both depth and dimension. The heavy-gauge sterling silver shank is richly hand-stamped and applied with silver drops and new moon motifs surrounding the cabochon. Intricate stampwork flows rhythmically throughout the bracelet in a cohesive composition that reflects generations of Navajo silversmithing tradition and craftsmanship. Dimensions • Width: 2 1/8” • Stone: 7/8” x 1” • Gap: 1 1/4” • Inside Measurement: 5 1/2” • Total Inner Circumference: 6 3/4” • Weight: 4 oz • Signed: Yes About the Stone — Royston Turquoise Royston turquoise is celebrated for its distinctive spectrum of colors, ranging from deep greens to vibrant sky blues, often accented by a rich natural brown matrix. The Royston mining district in Nevada encompasses several small mines, including Bunker Hill and Oscar Wehrend, with the Royal Blue claim regarded as one of the area’s most notable producers. Although Royston turquoise is still mined today, production remains limited and small in scale, making fine-quality material increasingly sought after. Its organic variation and striking color palette have made it highly prized among collectors, lapidaries, and Native American jewelry artists alike. About the Artist Ray Bennett, also known as Raymond Bennett, has worked as a silversmith since 1994 and continues to live and create in Gallup, where he was born and raised. He learned the art of silversmithing through family tradition under the guidance of his parents and uncles. Bennett is a listed silversmith in Hallmarks of the Southwest by Barton Wright, a respected reference on Native American jewelry. He began using the hallmarks “R. Bennett” and “Ray Bennett” in 1978. At one time, he served as the resident silversmith for Atkinson's Trading Company. His work is widely recognized for its intricate stampwork, strong traditional aesthetic, and use of high-quality natural stones, including rare and collectible turquoise.
