Antique Garnet Bracelet and Pendant, France, the bracelet designed as a large carbuncle centering and framed by rubies, joined to garnet carbuncle and bow-form links, together with a similar pendant set with emeralds, pearl and enamel accents, suspending a fringe, reverse with compartment, both in silver, lg. 6 5/8, 2 7/8 in., maker's mark and guarantee stamps. This is one of the finest Victorian Bohemian Garnet jewels we have seen with magnificent Garnet Cabochons surrounded by halos of natural mined Rubies with Pearl accents in a bow motif design. The extraordinary bracelet has French silver hallmarks and dates to the Belle Epoque period. We have a matching locket pendant in another listing. The bracelet is centered by a 1 3/8 inch (37mm) long garnet cabochon of approximately 62 Carats. The monumental garnet is extraordinary. In the center of the garnet is a round faceted Ruby set in a silver collet. Surrounding the garnet is a halo of 32 fine red Rubies. The bracelet continues with bow motifs set throughout with rubies and a line of pearls in the center. The bow motifs alternate with further garnet cabochon centered links which are each surrounded by a halo of 14 gorgeous rubies. The gems are all set in hallmarked French Silver. The museum quality jewel is worthy of the fine jewelry collections in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and London's Victoria and Albert Museum. The French jewelry makers during the 19th Century were unparalleled. The rare large garnets are an absolute dream. The combination of the blood red garnets with the red rubies is very Napoleonic, very French, and creates a passionate magnificent jewel. We have included a photo of the matching pendant locket which is in another listing and not included in the purchase but we wanted you to see both pieces. The bracelet dates to the Napoleon III - Belle Epoque periods, circa 1840-1890. The bracelet is 6 5/8 inches long. The center medallion is 1 3/4 inches (44mm) long and 1 1/4 inches (30mm) wide and is 1/2 inch (13mm) deep. The bracelet has a safety chain. The central garnet is 37mm by 20mm by 8m and is approximately 62 Carats. The ruby in the center of the large garnet is fractured. We have left the original gem intact. It may be replaced if desired. The clasp is hallmarked with the French boar head mark for silver and a maker's mark.
