One on Another Keum boo Cufflinks in Sterling Silver & 24ct Gold by Sheng Zhang. Dimensions: W 1.3 x D 1.7 x H 1.3 cm. Materials: Sterling silver, 24K gold foil. While this listing features the circular shape, this piece is also available in three additional silhouettes (Rectangle, Triangle or Square), each offered in both textured silver and oxidized silver finishes. Keum-boo (also Kum-Boo or Kum-bu, means Korean "attached gold") is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver, to make silver-gilt. Each piece is handmade and finished to a high standard. Each piece is hallmarked either by London or Edinburgh Assay Office. Available in four different shapes, each in textured and oxidised finishes. Cufflinks will be wrapped in acid free tissue and stored in recyclable, good quality and branded cardboard gift box to ensure them arrive safely and beautifully. About the artist. Sheng Zhang is a UK based award-winning contemporary jewellery and silversmithing designer maker. His designs are usually influenced and inspired by minimalist art, contemporary architecture and geometrical form. Associating with boundary, volume, silhouette, capacity, shadow and subtle detail, his practice concentrates on exploring the connection of internal and external, positive and negative space in his jewellery, vessels and objects. Sheng’s work demonstrates the aesthetics of minimal style, pure form and the ethos of moderation. He questions the relationship between the work and its surroundings as well as the role of function in a conceptual work of art. Embracing both traditional silversmithing skills and modern approaches, each piece of Sheng’s work is a result of a carefully controlled and purposely structured making process. Sheng has won multiple prestigious awards for his work, including Young Professional Award given by Netherlands Silver Museum, Silver Award from The Goldsmiths' Crafts and Design Council and New Designers Silversmithing Award from The Goldsmiths’ Company. His work is exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collections of Victoria and Albert Museum and The Goldsmiths’ Company. Sheng has worked to commissions for both individual clients and establishments including Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance.
