About the Item

A brand new design by Eytan Brandes, his "Vectra" earrings are strands of gold, twisting and turning, but just as they're about to head off in three different directions, they're stopped in their tracks by some very interesting gemstones. The gorgeous Ethiopian pear-shaped opals are obviously the main event. They're fraternal twins, being the same size and shape but otherwise distinctly different. One opal is more streaky, more blue (though an eerie shade of watermelon pink in certain lights, as shown in our photos), and more subtle, while the other is darker and more of the electric confetti variety. But since they're opals, they will always surprise you with new colors and flashes with every move and each change of lighting. The 0.15 carat bezel-set diamonds are both natural (i.e., earth-mined) and untreated, brilliant cut rounds -- our supplier grades them G-H color and VS1-2 clarity and Eytan concurs: these are clean, white, sparkly little devils set in open-bezels to allow plenty of light to dance through them. Finally, the "arrow" strand ends in a point that's pavé-set with ten bright and feisty tiny green tsavorite garnets. These earrings are one-of-a-kind humdingers, over 2" long and rigid but lightweight and comfortable to wear. They are fashioned in rich, high-polish 18 karat gold with 18 karat gold butterfly backs. WEIGHTS & MEASUREMENTS: Opals - approx. 17mm x 10.5mm x 6.5mm; the total opal weight is 9.7 carats. Diamonds - 3.3mm; the total diamond weight is 0.30 carats. Tsavorites - 1.1mm; the total tsavorite weight is 0.14 carats. Earring length: 54mm (2.13") Total earring weight (including backs): 11.32 grams
