About the Item

A pair of sapphire and diamond floral earrings by Danish jeweler Frantz Hingelberg, dating to the late 20th century. Each earring is composed of closely arranged blue sapphires surrounded by curling, diamond-set branches. Rather than forming a conventional symmetrical flower, the stones rise at different levels, creating a dimensional cluster with an irregular botanical outline. The pair contains 36 round sapphires totaling approximately 2.00 carats and 40 round brilliant-cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.50 carats. The deep blue sapphires remain concentrated through the center, while the diamonds define the outer structure and follow the movement of the goldwork. The main earrings are crafted in 14K white gold and marked “FH 585” for Frantz Hingelberg. The 18K white gold post-and-hinged-clip backs are marked “750 BKJ” and appear to be later replacements. At 13 grams, the earrings have a substantial feel and sit securely against the ear. Frantz Hingelberg was established in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1897 and became known for finely made Danish jewelry and silver. These earrings reflect the firm’s affinity for floral and organic forms, interpreted here through a dense arrangement of sapphires and diamonds.
