This mixed-metal piece combines 14k rose gold and silver in the beautiful floral and foliate motif of an open work cone. A rose gold flower dangles in silhouette, surrounded by a frame of silver leaves. At the bottom is a deep purple amethyst, emerald cut and bezel set. When looked at head on, the structure of the cone can be seen through the amethyst, giving an infinity effect as the floral motif is reflected kaleidoscopically within the stone. The fob is circa the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 1900’s. It is entirely handmade—each element hand sawn, assembled, and hand engraved. Centering a pear cut amethyst measuring 7.0 x 9.0 mm - transparent light pinkish purple. Set in a highly rendered swirling surround with gold beaded detailing. Flush set with emeralds and old European cut diamonds. Transparent bright green and eye clean, respectively. Representing the suffragette colors purple, white, and green. All fully hallmarked on reverse. Total Item Weight: 41.25 gm. Fitted Box. Ignore reflections from photographs, ruskins are in very good condition. A.E Jones Ltd. established Birmingham in 1902 is the most important of the individual Birmingham metal working firms in the Arts and Crafts style particularly for its association with the Ruskin Pottery. Jones registered a mark with the Birmingham Assay Office on 1st December 1902. Silver pieces with the small pottery roundels which Ruskin had started to produce appear in 1903.
