« Writing jewellery »: it is the best way to understand the Suite Birmane, a small series of contemporary unique piece necklaces that can be read as gem-like phrases, composed from the Burmese alphabet. Conceived like strange musical scores, each phrase evokes a chapter in the life of Buddha. Mysterious signs, commas, precious circles, half-moons, cedillas, quavers and brackets are joined together with meticulousness, elegance, and a concern for lightness and purity. The necklace reveals a flexible chain of flat-cut letters, doubled in size, reinforced in thickness and lightened by a reverse openwork design punctuated with subtle pegs and invisible links that join the elements to each other. In turn, these links can be hooked onto other forms, all mobile, like a complex and skilful game. This is jewellery waiting to be invented: its size and the addition of methodically placed closures on the longer necklaces allow various permutations. Drop necklace or choker perfectly compose a novel way of being worn, punctuated as they are by characters in 18 karat rosé gold -a warm, sophisticated color close to yellow gold- set here and there with diamonds -carat total weight: 1,75- and dotted with closed-set rubies -carat total weight: 0,7-. With a stylistic vocabulary both modern and sensitive the Suite Birmane links all worlds together and signs on the skin, a language of emotion and consummate elegance. Burmese to English translation: « Birth of the future Buddha in the Lumbini grove ».
