Carving of cameos in hardstone such as Lapis is exceedingly difficult and requires the skills of an extraordinary artisan. The face of the woman is serene and beautiful. The carving is very deep and of museum quality with extraordinary details in the face and hair of the woman. This is one of the finest hard stone cameos we have seen. This Locket Pendant Necklace is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Garnet, Turquoise and Pearl jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870.
