About the Item

Antique, American Civil War era, yellow gold pendant/brooch with stylized leaf motifs that appear to open up revealing at the center a cluster of natural vivid pink/red Almandine garnets. Both round and oval cut, these stones are set in classic mid-nineteenth century prongs. Suspending from the top portion is a hanging matching piece also with the foliage motif and matching garnets. Totally, there are 11 round and oval garnets all original and all well matched. The pendant/brooch is all original, including the early 'c' type clasp. This pendant is photographed with this piece to show it on a neck. This chain is not included in the sale. This large colorful and unusual pendant/brooch is 3.25 inches in length. There is a slight indentation on the verso, at the bottom, please see the photograph. This slight indentation cannot be seen from the front. Please note our model is a medium to large size. All items sold are accompanied by a detailed description with photographs, as well as all original gemological documentation, if specified in the listing.
