About the Item

This is a rare Art Deco - Art Nouveau Limoges Enamel Locket Pendant. The magnificent portrait of a woman is hand painted with vivid iridescent colors. This portrait of a woman has a gorgeous serene face with a beatific expression. Her headdress and dress are a stunning iridescent blue and green. Creating this iridescence requires a master artisan. The portrait is surrounded by a magnificent Etruscan Revival design. The locket is gold filled. The locket opens to reveal places for two photos. The original inserts are present on both sides. We have left the original photos in place. They can be simply removed. The locket is a very fine work of wearable period art by an extraordinary artist. Limoges Enamels have been produced since the 1200s. They have been collected throughout the centuries by avid collectors. The artists creating jewels during the Art Nouveau period created some of the most beautiful Limoges images. These Art Nouveau pieces are rare as they were created in very limited quantities, each being a unique piece of original art. The enamel is in perfect condition. There is some light reflection in the photos. The locket is 2 inches (5 cm) tall including the bales. Without the bales the pendant is 1 1/2 inches (37mm) tall, and is 1 1/8 inches (30mm) wide. The Locket is Gold-filled. The listing is only for the locket. The chain is only shown for display. The locket weighs 17.9 grams.
